I noticed a lot of American Flags during
my Saturday drive through our area.
Somebody raised those flags and that
raised a few questions in my mind.
Several were at half staff in honor of the
late Neil Armstrong.
But many were flying high as they usually
do. Didn't those flag flyers hear about
Armstrong?
Unless they're illuminated at night those
banners are suppose to be raised each
morning and lowered at dusk.
So who makes sure those raising and
lowering the flag know where they're
suppose to be set on any given day?
Even when the do know I have to
wonder how many know to take it to
the top before bringing it back down to
half mast? Or how it's suppose to be
taken back to the top from the half
mast position before it's lowered for
the night!
My guess is there aren't any "Flag
Police!"
And that's kind of too bad!
Whether it's flying high or lowered
in some one's honor "Old Glory" is
still the descendant of the Stars and
Stripes that Francis Scott Key saw
through the rocket's red glare as a
symbol of a country that refused to
surrendered when the odds seemed to be
against it!
To answer Mr Key's question.."Yes,
that Star Spangled Banner still waves!
Hope it's flying properly on this
Labor Day Holiday and that all your
NEWS is good!
