The Electric Restroom!
We've come a long way since the days when
most homes had an Outhouse in the corner of the
backyard.
Those were the days, around this area, when
household wastes, of all kinds, ended up in a hole
leading into an old coal mine.
You'll find the most modern updates in
restaurant restrooms.
These days those facilities include things
like forced hot air blowers so powerful your skin
will wrinkle like it's in a NASA centrifuge!
Where paper towels are still available they're
probably dispensed from a machine with an
electric eye that detects your hand as it passes
in front or under the unit. Of course it never
dispenses quite enough to complete the drying
process so you'll have to trigger it twice or more.
Many faucets work the same way. There's
no Hot or Cold valve. Just put your hands near
the faucet and the water comes out...for a couple
seconds anyway.
There are automatic deodorant units that
freshen the room air every so often..whether it
needs it or not.
And most every restroom, Men's as well
as Women's, now includes a "Baby Changing
Station." I've never had a baby to swap when I
go in.
With all these modern conveniences
in place I'm wondering who forgot to put
thermostats in all the restrooms! Why are they
all so cold? Is it an intentional effort to keep
employees uncomfortable so they'll get back
on the job as quickly as possible?
Or maybe a ploy to get customers
to order an extra cup of warm coffee when they
come out?
Maybe there's a shared wall with the
walk in freezer!?
Whatever the reason I find myself
spending extra time triggering the forced air
hand dryer in an attempt to warm the room a
little!
Hope you're keeping warm whether
you're coming or "going" and that all your
NEWS is good!
Remember before paper towels, there was the long loop of a cloth towel, that just went round and round? I guess that was so the top part would get dry while you used the bottom part. But it was the same towel, over and over and over....
