The 'Thing" On The Beach!

Could Captain Jack have sailed off course?
Is it possible the "Flying Dutchman" made its
way out of the Caribbean and into the dangerous
waters know as "the Graveyard of the Atlantic?"
Our walk on the beach yesterday lead us to a
couple walking in the opposite direction who,
like us, was collecting attractive and unique
shells. They had walked further north however
and, in doing so, had come across the remains
of an old wooden ship disinterred from its
watery grave by Hurricane Sandy last year.
Fascinated by their information we drove to
the general area to see if we might find the
wreckage.
The directions took us to a house which is
still undergoing repairs after "Sandy" left its
ocean facing decks slanting dangerously
towards the beach. Our eyes searched the
surf in hopes of sighting a mast or wooden
hull sticking out of the water. Seeing nothing
we assumed we had gone to the wrong spot
and were preparing to leave when I saw a
contractor near the damaged apartment unit.
He was the one who informed me we
should be looking towards the sand and not
the sea for our quarry. And sure enough there,
just in front of his repair project, were the
unmistakable wooden planks that had once
been part of a sailing vessel.
The workman said it was believed to be
the remains of a ship from the 1800's. It may
have once carried cargo, possibly slaves, to
the original United States.
Perhaps it was a Pirate Ship!
I never thought to look under any of that
sea aged wood to see if there might be
treasure underneath!
    Perhaps I'll sneak back...with a  shovel
tomorrow night! Wait. On second thought
night time may not be the time to be
revisiting what could be the remains of the
"Flying Dutchman." Not that I'm afraid or
anything.
Maybe I'll just make a map with an X marking
the location. You can check it out and we'll
split any doubloons you might find!
Hope you timbers are all shivered and that
all your NEWS is good!
