FIRESIDE CHAT!
My wife and I ended our camping
adventures a few years ago when we
sold our 5th wheeler which had been
set up on a seasonal site in an area
campground.
We don't miss the upkeep or the
expense which grew far faster than
our ability to keep up. What we miss
most of all were our fireside chats.
Sitting round the evening campfire
roasting some marshmallows and
sharing life's stories with each other
or friends who'd come to visit.
We've had a few campfires since.
One we especially enjoy at a small
motel along the banks of Lake Seneca.
But the atmosphere around our camp
site was something special.
That's why when our niece, her
husband, and one of their daughters
invited us to join them for hamburgers
and hotdogs at their camper at Francis
Slocum State Park we jumped at the
chance.
And why not? We had the camp
atmosphere we missed, the camp fire
we didn't have to start or keep going,
and the hotdogs and hamburgers
cooked by our niece's husband! He's
a good camper cook by the way!
After our meal we settled back
as we used to do around the campfire
which cooked up the marshmallows
and smores in short order! We got to
catch up on each other's lives and
enjoy quality time together.
Then I got to go home and
sleep in my own bed. I think I could
really go for this camping plan! We'll
have to put together a list of all of our
family and friends with campsites!
Hope they all have enough
burgers and that all your NEWS is
good!
