UPS AND DOWNS!
This is a day that shoudl be filled
with ups and downs! It's "National
Roller Coaster Day!" The first roller
coaster was patened on this day in
1898 by Edwin Prescott. Of course,
as we've discussed here before. the
roller coaster was actually fashioned
after the gravity railroad, a system that
allowed coal loaded railroad cars to
literally roll to their destination without
the need for a powered engine. And the
gravity railroad was started in the area
we now call Jim Thorpe. So the roller
coaster was "born" in Pennsylvania!
I am a coaster watcher rather than rider
but, for those of you who enjoy those
dips and turns, this is the perfect day
to go for a ride! Hope you do and that
all your NEWS is good!
