GETTING THE MESSAGE!
Today is "Marconi Day." It honors
the Italian electrical engineer, scientist,
and inventor Guglielmo Marconi who
invented the radio that allowed ships
at sea to transmit messages to one
another. It was a "Marconi device"
that sent the distress call from the
Titanic after it struck the iceberg.
Marconi's actual birthday is April
25th buyt it is celebrated each year
on the closest Saturday to that date.
These days we are able to send
messages everywhere thanks to
Marconi's basic invention in 1895.
Originally messages were sent
in morse code, a series of dots
and dashes representing letters
and numbers. Wait! I just got a
message myself! It's from my
wife. It reads..Stop talking! Get
up and clean out the shed." Thanks
heaps Marconi!!! Hope you are
all well and that all your NEWS
is good!
