PLENTY TO CELEBRATE!

      PLENTY TO CELEBRATE!

    It's January 17th and a great day for

celebrations! Most people, of course,

will be observing Dr. Martin Luther King

Day which is a legal holiday. But there are

some unofficial holidays being observed

today as well. It is, for instance, Cable Car

Day. The first patent for cable cars was

issued on January 17th of 1871. This is

also Kid Inventors Day. A time to recognize

and encourage young peope who have or are

coming up with new invention idea. January

17th is National Bootleggers Day. A "holiday

that speaks for itself. It's Popeye Day too! The

popular cartoon character first showed up in

a "Thimble Theater" presentation on January 17th

of 1929!  And although it may seem strangly

ironic on Martin Luther Kings day, January 17th

is also Rober E. Lee Day! How about that?!
