There was plenty of "light" in the night
sky as we gathered at our camper last night.
The moon wasn't full. Still it was bright
enought to cast a soft light all around the
place.
Then there were the fireworks!
Our campground schedules a display
every year near the 4th of July. And even
though we were still technically in June
our display was one of several you could
see from both sides of our small lake and
off in the distance as well.
What a disappointment then to note that
the Lighthouse my wife created from what
had been an old wooden windmill
remained dark into the night.
Much of the windmill had been wrecked
during a storm last year. My wife replaced
the top with one of those solar lights you
see poping up everywhere these days.
They charge in the sunlight of day and
are supposed to glow after sunset.
A friend suggested there might be a
tab that has to be removed before the light
would operate.
She found no tab but, instead, saw a
small switch inside the fixture. She asked
me what it was for. So....I switched it for
her....igniting the light!
At this point in my story you've got to
understand something.
My wife was a "straight A student."
I, on the other hand, was happy with
the C's I fought so hard to earn.
But at least I know when there's a
switch on a light fixture.....it probably is
there to turn the light ON and OFF!
She is a quick learner! When we got
home she switched on the two solar lights
in our yard she said weren't working
because the light on our front porch was
too bright for them to sense darkness.
Hope there's a "light of your life"
(like my wife) and that all your NEWS
is good!
Heh. Those on/off switches are usually there for the initial charging of the batteries...you can turn them off and let the batteries build up to maximum charge without ever discharging until you turn them on.
