BLOG FOR MONDAY, AUG 5th.
The surroundings seemed a little strange at first.
There was a Surf Board, a Pink Flamingo, and
a Pirate Flag among other things.
Our Pastor stood in front of folks seated around
picnic tables. He was holding a Sock Monkey.
Then I remembered. We were in Church! Sort
of.
Each year our church family moves out of our
sanctuary and under a pavilion at Moyer's Grove
Campground to hold a service, then the church
picnic.
Now don't confuse our efforts with those big
Church Picnics scheduled to raise money for
whatever. Ours is structured a lot more like a
family reunion. Even Sock Monkeys are welcome!
It is probably not a good stop for anyone on
a Weight watchers Plan! We have too many good
home maker/chefs in our congregation and, since
you don't want to hurt any one's feelings, you'll
probably sample everything.
It wouldn't be too bad if you limited your
menu to the main table. But, then, there are the
deserts. Ignoring these treats could get you a
nomination for Sainthood. I will not be
nominated this year.
It was a fun day in a beautiful setting provided
by our host...the Lord!
Hope you're taking time to enjoy that beauty
and to say "Thank you!" If so, I'm sure all your
NEWS will be good!
