SETTING SAIL!
We;ve all heard the verse. "In 1492
Columbus sailed the ocean blue." Well,
as it happens, that voyage began on this
date, August 3rd of 1492! Columbus
had a fleet of three ships. The Nina, the
Pinta, and the Santa Maria. The Santa
Maria was his flag ship. But you may not
know that on Christmas day that same year
the Santa Maria ran aground and sank in
the waters just off what we now know as
Hati. The crew was put ashore to establish
a coloney there. But Chris saided back to
Europe to begin plans for his next voyage.
As far as I've been able to determine the
rumor that there was a 4th ship that sailed off
the end of the earth is untrue. Hope you're
