Where Were You When The Lights Went Out?
I remember my late uncle reciting that old rhyme a
time or two when I was just a little kid.
"Where were you when the lights went out? Down
in the cellar eating sauerkraut."
It came to my mind last night when I, like many of
you, was at a Super Bowl Party watching the TV
when the huge domed stadium in New Orleans
suddenly went dark! Somebody must have
plugged in a toaster!
The resulting delay added another half hour to
the "60 minute" football game that took us from
6:30 to approximately 11 o'clock. Even with
half time that's one heck of a long "hour" and good
reason, in my mind, to move future Super Bowls to
Saturdays!
By the time the game ended we had lost all the
kids in our crowd because it was a "school night"
and several other guests who were facing a busy
Monday.
I did enjoy the game even though I don't have a
favorite NFL team. I was kind of pleased the
Ravens pull it off because the victory seemed
like a really good ending to the story of Michael
Oher, the young man featured in the movie "The
Blind Side." Now he's got a Super Bowl Ring.
We had three TV sets going at our party, along
with electronic games and Air Hockey to pass the
time while the stadium sat in darkness.
I got plenty of exercise during the game.
According to my Pedometer I walked nearly two
miles while the Ravens and 49ers were running up
and down that 100 yard field.
The only thing is....I was walking back and forth
to the table with all the food!
I may now have to do some walking "away" from
food for awhile!
Hope you enjoyed the game, won some money in
a pool and that all of your NEWS is good!
