Everytime A Bell Rings.....
I suppose I've seen the Christmas Classic movie
"A Wonderful Life" about 30 times over the years.
But last night I saw the story presented in an
entirely different way. And on stage!
A group from our church joined other audience
members at the Grove Theater in Nuangola where
thespians offered a musical version of George Bailey's
life story and encounter with Clarence, ASC (Angle Second
Class.)
For the 4 of you who never saw it, the story is about
a man who gives up his dream of traveling round the
world to serve his friends in his small hometown then,
when facing disaster, learns how much his life has
meant to the lives of others!
But this time George and Company sing their way
through Bedford Falls.
I'm not so sure how Jimmy Stewart would have
sounded had he been cast in this version. He wasn't
my idea of a crooner.
There's even a solo for the mean old Mr. Potter as
well as Uncle Billy.
Some movies probably just wouldn't work as a musical.
Just picture Bruce Willis adding song and dance to the
Die Hard series!
It's a Wonderful Life works! But it's got to be tough
to go on stage and offer an altered version of a story that's
so well known and loved.
But this fine cast pulled it off so, by now, our local
Clarence must be showing off his new wings! Anybody
hear that bell?!
Hope you get a chance to see it and that all your
NEWS is good!
