BORDERING ON INSANITY!

      BORDERING ON INSANITY!

We were traveling between two holidays!
It was Canadian Thanksgiving and Columbus
Day in the United States. Our Travelworld
tourists were returning from a wonderful
trip to Montreal. There was an extremely
long line of traffic backing up at the U.S.
border but once we were able to weave
through some of the jam our bus headed
straight for a line specifically designated
for vehicles like ours!
Only one bus stood in front of ours
but we had to stop until the passengers
there were processed.It seemed like
forever until that was done. Everyone
on board had to get off and go into the
Security office were they stayed for
what can only be described as an
extended period of time. In reality it
was probably only about an hour.
We saw that bus pull away. And then,
we waited! And waited. And waited.
No one came to our bus to explain
the delay and when a couple of our
passengers stepped off to stretch their
legs an officer walking by ordered
everyone back on board!
It was well over two hours
until another officer finally climbed
into our bus! He did apologize for
the delay and told us we would not
have to get off. He did check all of
our Passports to make sure their photos
matched our faces. He then took me,
as a Tour Escort, and all of those Passports
inside where he ran them through a scanner
one by one before allowing me to take them
back to our bus. Then we were allowed
to get back on the road.
Sort of ironic this took place on
Columbus Day. I couldn't help but think
if Columbus had been confronted we made
a similar delay we'd all be living in the
Seneca Nation instead of the United
States! He probably would have turned
around.
Our schedule had to be radically
adjusted to make up time but with the
support of our fellow travelers we made
it work.
Hope the bus behind ours is home
by now too and that all your NEWS is
good!
