LET THE CELEBRATION BEGIN!

         FRIDAY, JULY 1, 2022

LET THE CELEBRATION BEGIN!

       It's July 1st and it's a big holiday.

But not here. The holiday is across the border

in Canada. It's CANADA DAY...marking the

combination of three territorties into one

Canada! That happened in 1867! I wanted to

help them celebrate! Canada is such a good

neighbor and they've given us so much!  A

Canadian, Marcellus Edson patened Peanut

paste ( Peanut butter). Canada gave us

Lacross. The Snowmobile. And it was a

Canadian surgeon, Fredrick Banting and a

medical student, Charles Best, isolated the

hormone insulin for the first time! I know a

little about Canadian products. A few years

back my old friend and colleage Derry Bird

and I went on a fishing trip to Canada. It was

raining when we arrived and we knew we'd

have to spend the night holded up in my camper.

Derry bought a 6 pack. It seems Cabadia beer

has a higher alcolol content than Americsn

beers. I had two. I think. I don't really remember.

But I know I slept well that night! Anyhow, today's

the day to toast our friends to the north. So to all

you Canadians, I hope your day is great and all

your NEWS is good! Eh?

THE SOCIAL MEDIA

 THURSDAY, JUNE 30TH., 2022

     THE SOCIAL MEDIA!

   How very appropriate that you
should be joining me, by reading
my blog, on Social Media Day!
It's the 13th annual observance of
this global celebration although
Social Media has been around a
lot longer than that.
    Of course it's changed over
the years! At one time the term
could have been applied to those
rural homes that shared a so-
called "party line" telephone.
    Now we've evolved to world
wide contact ability through
sources like Skype and Facebook.
And what great resources they
are!
     Just yesterday I received
three Skype messages from
people I never heard of asking
that I add them as contacts.
      Meanwhile on Facebook,
I struggle daily with the task
of coming up with one word
responses on how I met various
friends who then want me to
copy and paste my answer to
my home page.
      I have politely tried to
 explain that I haven't copied
since third grade and am
prohibited, by my wife, from
using paste or glue.
     On the positive side, I
now have a better idea of
how many cats my FB friends
own and see their photos
nearly every day.
      Of course I do plenty
of postings too including
family and travel photos.
I do not, however, have
any cats except for those
who roam my neighborhood
at will. If I see one, or a
skunk, I'll try to post a photo
so I feel more like a part of
the group!
      I don't know how folks
in those party line days
survived!
      How you keep using
Social Media (to read my
blogs) and that all your
NEWS is good!

THE BIRD!

   WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29, 2022

               THE BIRD!

Before we run out of June you

should be aware this is "National

Turkey Lovers' Month!" You might

have expected such a "holiday" to

be scheduled for November. An

estimated 46 million turkeys are

consumed that month because of

Thanksgiving. But the fact is you

can love turkeys anytime! As a

meal or just as a bird. Ben Franklin

wanted the turkey as our national

bird but the Eagle won out. Turkeys

can be found in the woods around

the northeast. In fact when we went

on our Travelworld adventure to

NH two weeks ago to look for

Moose the first animal I spotted

was a turkey! My wife bought a

model turkey for out back yard.

She told me she always wanted

two turkeys around the house! I

wonder what she meant by that?

Oh well, enjoy National Turkey

Lovers' Month and may all of

your NEWS be good!

HARD KNOCKS TO HARD NOTES!

        TUESDAY, JUNE 28, 2022

HARD KNOCKS TO HARD NOTES!

You've got to admire people who constantly

get clobbered buy never say die! Adolphe was

such a person. He liked music and inventing

but he was lucky he lived long enough to

enjoy the music and get his invention

patened! Before he was two years old he

fell three stories and hit his head on the

solid pavement. They thought he was dead.

He swallowed a pin and, when only two,

drank a bowl of acidic water he thought was

milk! For some time he slept in a room where

laminated furniture was being dried, The fumes

could have killed him! Then, later in life, he

was struck on the head with a cobblestone and

fell into the river! Still he survived. Much to

the joy of music, and especially jazz lovers.

You see on this very date in 1846 Adolphe

got a patent for his invention which, by the

way, bears his name. You see Adolphe Sax,

invented the Saxophone! Just though you'd

want to know! Hope you're enjoying your

jazz and that all your NEWS is good.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MILDRED~

        MONDAY, JUNE 27TH., 2022
      HAPPY BIRTHDAY MILDRED!

     It's June 27th friends! It's Mildred Hill's
Birthday and we really ought to sing for her~
Back in 1893 Mildred and her sister Patty
Hill, wrote a song for their nursery
school students. It was, originally, "Good
morning to you." Eventually it evolved into
 "Happy Birthday to you."
And now you can sing it....for free!!!!!!
129 years ago a third sister filed a
Copyright on the song and, over most of
those years, publishing companies have been
collecting royalties whenever the song
was sung or played by a profit making
enterprise.
For instance the scene in which I appear
in the movie "All In Time" was written as a
Birthday Party. When the producers realized
they'd have to pay to use the "Happy
Birthday" the scene was changed to a picnic.
I did miss the cake!
    Small change? Hardly! The royalties
brought in an estimated two million dollars
a year! Makes you think about writing
a song!
In 2015, however, a Federal Judge
ruled the copyright only applied to a
specific piano arrangement of the song. Not
to the song itself!
So if you or someone you know is
celebrating a Birthday...sing away and
bring a band to play the music if you
wish! It's all for fun...especially now that
it's all for free!
Hope you enjoy the party and that
all your NEWS is good!

DRY HOLES!

    SUNDAY, JUNE 26, 2022

           DRY HOLES!

My wife has a doctor's appointment

next week and needed a blood test

in time for the visit. I have an appointment

too. Mine is in a couple months. But I too

have to have a bllod test. We decided the

family that gets their blood tests together

gets the results in time. We both had to fast

for the tests. Seems your results can be

affected if you have corn flakes or

something before you get your blood test.

I assumed they were giving prizes to

patients as there was a very long line of

people waiting to get tested. When my

turn finally came I sat quitely in the chair

while a nurse began inserting a needle

into my arm. I must tell you if this

friendly nurse was drilling for oil we

would all be out of gasoline. It took

two needles in each arm and one in

my hand before "my well came in!"

She probably could have done better

if she just slugged me in the nose!

Got to rest my bruises now. Hope

all your NEWS is good!

THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF COLOR!

          SATURDAY. JUNE 25, 2022

THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF COLOR

This is "Color TV Day!" Imagine have a

TV without color these days! It was back in

1951 when CBS aired what was considered

to be the first color TV broadcast. Of course

most people only had black and white television

sets which couldn't decode the signal and they

only received a blank screen! A few specially

designed set were set up in hotels and they got

to see the broadcast in color. All of the networks

had been experimenting with color for some time.

In fact there was a story that, in 1943, NBC did a

color broadcast with Jerry Lewis and Bill

"Bogangles" Robinson that went from the network's

studios in New York to Princeton University that

had only one viewer! That viewer was Albert

Einstein! I remember when color TV's were

the "new big thing." I asked the clerk in the

appliance store if he had any and he quickly

said "Yes!" "Great," I said! "I'll take a green one!"

Hope your day is colorful and that all your

NEWS is good!

FAIRY DUST!

  FRIDAY, JUNE 24TH. 2022

              FAIRY DUST!

If you're looking for something to
celebrate today you might consider
the fact June 24th is "International
Fairy Day."  I suspect this observance
may have originated in Ireland where
you'll actually find a perfectly straight
highway suddenly circling an island-
like mound of earth which the local
population considers to be "a Fairy
Fort." They take them very seriously
and don't disturb them where ever
they're found!
    Sherlock Holmes creator Sir
Author Conan Doyle was a great
believe in the tiny creatures!.
And who among us hasn't read
or had Fairy Tales read to us or
waited to see what the Tooth Fairy
left under our pillow in place of
that tooth we lost?
According to one of the web
sites celebrating the day a Fairy can
blow away bad dreams, grant wishes,
and bring good luck and happiness.
Guess we could all use a little
of that right now! Enjoy the day.
Hope you;re well and that all your
NEWS is good!

AGNES AT 50!

   THURSDAY, JUNE 23, 2022

             AGNES AT 50!

I'm not great at remembering dates.

places as well as my friend.
But I can tell you where I was on
June 22nd in 1972. I can tell you
where I was on the 23rd, 24th and
every day for the rest of that month
and into July as well. In fact I
called my wife to tell her I'd be home
a little late and didn't get there
for three days! Even then I
couldn't stay!
 That's when Tropical Storm Agnes
struck Wyoming Valley. 50 years ago!
I was News Director of WILK Radio
at the time and we were the area's
'Emergency Alert Station' for the
area.
As the waters of the Susquehanna
River began to rise to a dangerous
level I decided to go to the
Courthouse where are station had a
two way radio. That way I didn't
have to bother the Civil Defense
Officials with constant phone calls
for updates.
 But the individual assigned to
handle public information for Civil
Defense couldn't get in.
 Does anybody remember what the
term 'drafted' means?
 Well I was.
 It was an experience
unequaled in my news career!
I saw the Pierce Street Bridge
get washed away!
I was broadcasting a report from
Civil Defense in the sub basement
of the Courthouse when water started
to gush into the room from what should
have been the drain! Being a
'trained observer' I decided to leave
the room and move somewhere higher!
I carried documents dating from the
1700's upstairs to try to keep them
from being lost.
And I worked an Army field telephone
wired from the temporary CD
headquarters to the old WYZZ FM
while directing a network of  13 usually
competitive radio stations to air
flood emergency reports.
We did that once at hour
for several 'weeks after the waters
went back within their banks.
 We only lost one report!
Two kids saw the wire running up
the street and decided to play jump
rope!
Then President Nixon called it 'the
worst natural disaster to hit the
United States' up till that time.
 But the work of volunteers,National
Guard, students who sandbagged, Civil
Defense and those great newsmen and DJ's
who took shifts on that emergency
radio network contributed to a very
low death toll in our area.
Let's face it folks. Some things
you can't remember. Some others
you'll never forget!
Keep you feet dry and may all your
NEWS be good!

ARE YOU POSITIVE?

   WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22, 2022

          ARE YOU POSITIVE?

June 22nd is "Positive Media Day!"

The whole idea is to encourage the media

to give us some good news. It's easy in

some cases. Weather for instance. Partly

cloudy and partly sunny are virtually the

same thing. But if you choose to report

that condition as partly sunny you are

giving it a positive spin. I once worked

gor a radio station that devoted one

newscast each day to "positive news." It

was well received when we first started

it. But when there was some major news

event happening, people were much more

anxious to get information about that then

learning about a boy scout getting an award.

It's good to include a positive story when

time and conditions allow. But a newscaster's

job is to give you information about that

smoke you're seen in your community when

you're heading home from work. Even though

it's the title of my blog, "no news" isn't really

good news! It's ignorance! That said, I hope

all your NEWS is good!

"SHINING" LIGHT ON A GRAND HOTEL!

            TUESDAY, JUNE 21, 2022

"SHINING" LIGHT ON A GRAND HOTEL

I've been using a few of my daily blogs to share

highlights of our Travelworld trip to New Hampshire

so you might enjoy some of the sights our guests

experience. One very impressive experience was

our visit to the Mount Washington Hotel! There

was a time when these huge hotels could be found

throughout New England. They catered to the

wealthy for the most part. But the advant of the

automobile and years of weather and ware saw

most of them disappear. The Mount Washington,

know as the Omni, is one of three left in New

Hampshire. It was opened in 1902 and built for

Joseph Stickney who operated the facility with

his wife Carolyn. Ironically he passed away a

little over a year after the hotel opened. Carolyn

summered at the Mount Washington and used

to watch other women coming down the grand

staircase from a window in her apartment. It

was said she didn't want to be outdressed by

someone else. It is also said the she never

lefy the hotel! Strange sounds and activities

have been reported in and around her room,

314, and a para-normal investigating team

claimed to have recorded what may be her

voice during their visit there! Her room is

still rented to tourists, some of whom have

claimed to have heard voices during their

stay. Whatever the truth the Mount Washington

Hotel still serves as an example of the old

Grand Hotels still offering a grand style

of life for those looking for luxurious

accommodations. Hope you'll get to visit

sometime and that all your NEWS is good!

GETTING HIGH IN NEW HAMPSHIRE!

           MONDAY, JUNE 20, 2022

GETTING HIGH IN NEW HAMPSHIRE!

Since we've just returned from our Travelworld

trip to New Hampshire I wanted to share some

of our adventures on my daily blog. We found,

for instance, there's a lot of ways to "get high"

in New Hampshire! 6,000 feet, for instance, to

the summit of Mt. Washinghton. But you can

also get high on the Tram car to Mount Cannon.

Ski lifts and gondolas are limited in seating and

run a circular route on a cable. A tram, on the

other hand runs straight up the mountain on

a cable then reloads and comes straight down.

The tram at Mount Cannon can hold 40 passengers

and a new unit yto hold 100 people is being built

right now. It's an exciting ride, especially if the

wind sways the car a bit, and everyone in our

group loved it. I'm glad. I wouldn't want

an yone to be "Tram-itized!" Hope you'll get

to try it some day and that all your NEWS

is good!

WHERE DO YOU LOOK FOR MOOSE?

        SATURDAY, JUNE 19, 2022

WHERE DOM YOU LOOK FOR MOOSE?

I'm back, as is my daily blog. I enjoyed a

few days hosting a Travel World tour to New

Hampshire and we're back just in time for

Father's Day. One of the highlights of that

tour was a "Moose Hunt." We're weren't

hunting with guns but, rather, with cameras.

I thought we'd board a 4 wheel drive vehicle

and search the dirt roads running through

the deep forest. Not so. The moose tend to

feed right along side the highays where

rain runs off the winter salt which the moose

eat up like candy! A great tour and, since

it's Father's Day I'v just got to ask you what

a father moose calls his sleepy son? A Bull

Dozer!!!! Happy Father's Day! Hope you're

well and that all your NEWS is good!

REMEMBER, SO YOU DON'T FORGET!

          TUESDAY, JUNE 14, 2022

REMEMBER, SO YOU DON'T FORGET!

You are about to be flooded, if you'll excuse

the expression, by stories, pictures and videos

from the 1972 documentary on the Tropical

storm "Agnes" Flood! The Times Leader

newspaper has teamed up with WBRE/WYOU

to provide memories that destroyed communities

all along the Susquehanna River. I've done and

scheduled several interviews for local radio and

television recalling my days as a Civil Defense

volunteer. A documentary premiers at the Kirby

Center on Saturday. Another showing of the

special footage area will premire on stage

in the Mercy Sunday. Hope you're feelin good

and that all those on air promotions are aring

now/ I also hope all your NEWS is good!

KITCHEN KLUTZES!

 MONDAY, JUNE 13, 2022

    KITCHEN KLUTZES!

   This is "National Kitchen Klutzes

of America Day!" It is dedicated to

all of you who have, at one time or

another, been a Klutz in your kitchen!

Unbelieveable as it may seem, even I

have been a Klutz in the kitchen a time

or two. I remember breaking a wine glass.

Fortunately I had already empited it before

it shattered! I remember breaking open a

hard boiled egg...that wasn't hard boiled.

On the other hand I've become quite a chef

in our kitchen! I can fry Spam or pepperoni

and I'll know exactly when it's ready to eat.

The smoke detector will go off! I suppose my

wife will tell you about the best example of

my kitchen klutzeness! I put dish washing

liquid in the dish washing machine and had

suds pour out all over the floor. Hey! It's a

dish washer and I had liquid the was suppose

to be used to clean dishes. Seems to me that's

logical! That happened a few years back. Then,

a couple years later, I made the same mistake

again! Yep! Suds all over the floor. Of course

both the dishes and the floor got cleaned! Call\

me a klutz for that if you will. But I haven't

been asked to do the dishes since then!!!!

Hope you;re careful in the kitchen and that

all your NEWS is good!

LET'S TALK TRASH!

      SUNDAY, JUNE 12, 2022

        LET'S TALK TRASH!

    This "National Waste and Recycling

Workers Week.! You know, those DPW

guys in your community who literally do

the dirty work for the rest of us. Hauling

away garbage and cans, bottles, and other

rubbish. Here in my home community we

are blessed to have a fantastic crew! Out in

all kinds of weather lifting loads I'd have to

get help to dump into the back of a truck

then riding off holding on to the vehicle

from their perch near the rear bumpers.

Always time to wave at the kids or sound the

horn to make them happy. We usually call

them "the garbage men." They have a really

tough job. You have to be strong and know

the routes. As for the specifics of the job

however....you can just "pick it up as you go!"

Thanks for all the good work gang! Hope

all your NEWS is good!

A BEAUTIFUL MIND!

    SATURDAY, JUNE 11, 2022

        A BEAUTIFUL MIND!

How many times have you heard somebody

say "I wish it was Christmas year round?" Well

June 11th is an unofficial holiday that deserves

the same good wishes!  This is "National

Making Life Beautiful Day!" This is a day of

celebration for all of those people who make

an effort to make life beautiful for everyone

around them. Perhaps it's just a kind word to

lift up another person's spirit or console

someone who is going through a tough time.

Maybe it's as easy as just lending an ear to

someone who needs someone to listen to

their concerns. Just doing something nice

for someone. You can make your own life

a bit more beautiful by participating. Take

a moment to make your own life a bit more

beautiful! Listen to the birds or the wind

chimes around your house and relax for a

few minutes without the daily distractions

we've all got to deal with! You'll come out

the winner if you do. I hope you make

someone's life beautiful today. And your

own as well. I also, a always, hope all your

NEWS is good!

A COLD START FOR A HOT ITEM!

        FRIDAY, JUNE 10, 2022

A COLD START FOR A HOT ITEM!

   English plantation owner Richard

Blechynden figured he'd make a

killing by selling his product at the

1904 St. Louis World Fair. Thousands

of people were on hand. But June 10th

was a sizzle of a day that year and fresh

brewed tea just wasn't selling! Blechynden

came up with an idea. He dumped some

of his tea into a bowl filled with ice

cubes and, presto, Ice Tea was born.

And, it sold! And sold! Have a sip while

you sit back, relax, and observe "Ice Tea

Day!" Enjoy your brew and I hope all your

NEWS is good!

DOUBLE D DAY!

  THURSDAY, JUNE 9TH., 2022
         DOUBLE D DAY!

No. It's not my birthday. Although I
did go by the radio name Double Dee
during my few years as a DJ.
  The Double D we're congratulating
today is a lot more famous than I'll
ever be!
   He is Donald Duck!
I spotted "Donald Duck Day" on
two separate listings of unusual
June holidays.
I was surprised to find one of those
sites filled with conflicting information
about Donald's actual birthday. I guess
that's because he's a Cartoon character!
June 9th is listed because that's the
date he first appeared in a Disney
Cartoon. That was in 1934. But the same
site suggests that Donald was actually
born one March 13th., probably in 1914.
So he may actually be 108 this year!
Either way he's one lucky duck to be
around for so long and still be so
popular! And most of he time you
can't understand a word he's saying!
Of course that hasn't hindered some
of our current TV reporters!
And just about the time you think you
know a character that's been around for
so long you learn something new!
Did you know, for instance that Donald
has a middle name?
Well he does! Donald Duck's middle
name is "Fauntleroy".  Boy this on
line information stuff is really cool!
     So Happy Birthday Donald!
Hope you'll all be celebrating, and that
all your NEWS is good!

BEST OF FRIENDS!

   WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8, 2022

          BEST OF FRIENDS!

Best Friend Day (BFF Day) is a time
to enjoy and appreciate your best friend.
It's a day to honor and cherish the relationship.
I have been blessed with a lot of very good
friends! You're not limited to just one best friend.
Many people, for instance, say their spouse
is their best friend. Very true. But there are others
outside of family.  My oldest has been my friend since First
grade. I have know Bob Biscombe since we
both entered A.D. Thomas Elementary
School in Hazleton. And we've never lost
touch with one another!
We were in each other's wedding
parties and our wives became close friends
too.
In the case of Bob and me I suppose it
is proof that opposites attract.
Bob was an "A" student all the way
through school. As I've told you before
I had an "A" once too.
Bob always saved his money. I felt
it more important to keep the economy
going.
But Bob still amazes me. Every time
I get a letter or card from him I know I'm
in for an evening of reading. He fills in
every bit of blank space on each card and
letter!
Bob and I both like to take pictures.
But in Bob's case it has become an
obsession. These days he not only takes
pictures, he takes pictures of pictures!
And it's not unusual to see this former
Driver Ed Teacher stop on the railroad
tracks to get a shot down the line.
Bob and I always ate well. In fact
he often helped us finish our dinners
while visiting my old home. We used
to say we never needed a garbage disposal
until Bob moved away.
It's not often you stay close to a friend
for that many years. But close we remain.
I suppose part of that involves the
fact that he doesn't use a computer or
read my blogs. So you'll have to tell
him about this one!
Hope you've got a couple of old
dear friends! If so it's likely all your
NEWS is good!

HOME MOVIES!

   TUESDAY, JUNE 7, 2022

         HOME MOVIES!

This is one of those unusual "holidays"

that isn't very old but is quickly disappearing!

This is "VCR Day." The video cassette

recorder became a common appliance in

most homes in the 1970's. They were a

major improvement over the old home

movies filmed on 8mm movie film! First

they included sound. Seconly, a video

cassette could record between two and six

hours as opposed to the three minutes you'd

get with 8mm movie film. Of course technolgy

has now swept by those cassette tapes. They

have been replaced by video discs and even

more advanced recording units. Hope you've

saved some of those VSH tape though or, better

yet, have had them converted to other, longer

lasting. forms. They preserve valued treasures

of family movies that deserve to be preserved!

Hope you're well and that all your NEWS is

good!

HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW?

         MONDAY, JUNE 6, 2022

HOW DOES YOUR GARDEN GROW?

This is "National Garden Day." It's a day

to appreciate your garden and recognize

the health benefits of gardening. Working

in your garden can be better than a work

out in your local gym! We have a very

nice garden around my house. There are

several types of beautiful flowers as well

as  some strawberry and black berry bushes.

It takes some special tools to keep things

blooming in this garden.  There's a rake and

a lawn mower (we're actually looking for a

new one right now) and a seed spreader to

name just a few. But I've got one tool and

everybody shoud consider to assure you'll

have a good garden. I call it "my wife."

Hope you're well and that all your NEWS

is good!

UP, UP, AND AWAY!

   SUNDAY, JUNE 5, 2022

      UP, UP, AND AWAY!

This is "Lighter than air Baloon

Day!" The first manned flight took

place in 1783. Their value quickly

became clear, especially in war time!

I was discussing the observance with

my wife yesterday. I explained the

that baloons were used for reconnaisiance

during the Civil War. Later, baloons were

used for transportation. In those cases,

I explained, hydrogen or helium carried

the baloons aloft. But hydrogen was

dangerous, remember the Hindenburg

disaster, and helium, still used for those

Macy's Thanksgiving Day parades, is

very expensive! It's easier, I explained,

to heat the air in a baloon. That causes

the molecules inside the baloon to

expand, making them lighter than air!

"But what makes the baloon go up"

she asked. "Hot air" I said! "Then

what's holding you down" she asked!

IT'S OK TO BE CHEESY!

  SATURDAY, JUNE 4, 2022

   IT'S OK TO BE CHEESY!

  Welcome to June 4th. "National

Cheese Day!" Cheese has been around

forever. At least there are records of

cheese dating back 10,00 years! You

likely have cheese in one form or

another every week. In fact the average

American consumes 31 pounds of

cheese a year! I'm not sure if that

figure even includes the cheese you

eat on your weekly pizza! My favorite

is "Reserved," a very sharp chedder

that goes good with wine. So go ahead

and celebrate. Have a slab of your

favorite cheese today. If, however, that

"favorite" happens to be Limburger,

write me about it. Don't tell me in

person!!! That's a little too much

cheese for me! Hope you enjoy your

cheese treat and that all your NEWS

is good.

NATIONAL DOUGHNUT DAY!

         FRIDAY, JUNE 3, 2022

  NATIONAL DOUGHNUT DAY!

   It's "National Doughnut Day" friends!

But it's not a tribute to Dunkin Dounuts

or Krispy Cream! It's a tribute to the

women volunteers of the Salvation

Army, the "Lassies" who served meals

and fresh baked treats to the fighting

men in France during World War I.

Some of you may remember those

soliders were called "Doughboys"

and that's how the term doughnut

came back to the United States!

So celebrate the day and those

"Lassies" with a fresh dounut today!

Quite a story. But there are no holes

in it! Hope you're well and that all

your NEWS is good!

HI THERE BUBBA!

    THURSDAY, JUNE 2, 2022

         HI THERE BUBBA!

Bet you didn't know about this

one! June 2nd is "National Bubba

Day!" You may have heard someone

call Bubba from time to time. It is

generally a compliment or a term of

endearmen. Our daughter sometimes

calls her son Bubba. The name gained

some fame when it was used for a

character in the movie Forest Gump.

Bubba Day is always observed on

June 2nd although neither the significance

of the date or the idenity of the creator

are known. Probably somebody named

Bubba came up with the whole thing!

So to all you Bubba out there, and

everyone else as well, I hope all your

NEWS is good!
