SALUTING PEANUT BUTTER!

    TUESDAY, MARCH 1, 2022

 SALUTING PEANUT BUTTER!

Welcome to March 1st! Welcome to

"National Peanut Butter Day!" Seems

that peanut butter has been around forever.

But it wasn't until 1884 that a Canadian,

Marcellus Edson patened a process to make

what he called "Peanut Paste." Eleven years

later Dr. John Kellog, the same guy who came

up with all those breakfast cerals, patened a

way to make "Peanut Butter" from raw peanuts.

Although the average american will eat some

3,000 PB&W sandwiches in their lifetime, the

United Kingdom, Germany, and France lead

the world in peanut butter comsumption! It

takes about 540 peanuts to make one 12 ounce

jar of peanut butter! There are six cities in the

United States named Peanut including Peanut,

Pennsylvania, and Upper Peanut Pennsylvania!

National Peanut Butter Day! "Spread" the NEWS

and I hope all yours is good

A BITE IN THE WALLET!

    MONDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2022

        A BITE IN THE WALLET!

     It's February 28th gang! "National

Tooth Fairy Day!" The tooth fairy has

been around as long as I can remember.

You know the drill (excuse that expression

in relation to a story on teeth). A kid loses

a tooth, puts it under his or ger pillow, and

wakes up to find the tooth gone..replaced

my cash! Our 6-year-old grandson lost a

front tooth just last week. He tells me the

tooth fairy left 12 dollars under his pillow!

12 dollars! I used to get a quarter!!!!! I'm

currently looking at a pair of pliers and

wondering if I should use them myself!

I could use a couple bucks! Hope you're

well and that all your teeth...I mean//NEWS

is good!

NO NEED TO THINK ABOUT THIS "HOLIDAY!"

              SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2022

NO NEED TO THINK ABOUT THIS "HOLIDAY!"

February 27th marks one of those unusual

"holidays" that should be extremely easy to

observe! This is "No Brainer Day!" A day when

you should just do whatever is easy and simple.

If the task involves thinking.....let it go!

The day is the brainstorm of Adrienne Sioux

Koopersmith, identified by Insight magazine

as America's Premier Eventologist!" My wife

suggests this is a day perfectly suited to my

talents and abilities. I'm not sure if that's a

compliment or not! Hope you're well and

that all of your NEWS is good!

A TOUGH ACT TO FOLLOW!

    SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2022

       A TOUGH ACT TO FOLLOW!

I've introduced you to a lot of unusual
"holidays" over the years I've been writing
this blog but there's no question in my mind
this one may be hard to swallow!
    February 24th is "International Sword
Swallowers Day!"
    Sword Swallowers Association International
president Dan Meyer first announced the
creation of this special day in 2007. I have to
admit I never knew about the existence of
this Association.
Nor did I realize February is also
 National Swallowing Disorders Month.
I am not surprised that people who swallow
 swords could develop a swallowing
 disorder!
My only suggestion for celebrating the
day would be to catch a professional sword
swallowing act. That could be a challenge.
According to the Association there are less
than a few dozen full-time professional sword
swallowers actively performing around the world
today. Talk about an industry with a lot of
opportunity!
I've always used a pen which, as you know,
is mightier than the sword. On the other hand
I've never swallowed one. A pen that is. Or
sword!
I don't suggest you try either. Just have a
donut and we'll call it even! Hope you enjoy
the day and that all your NEWS is good!

A STRAW POLL!

   FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2022

            A STRAW POLL!

   Environmentalists are wondering how

many of you might be willing to enjoy

your drinks directly from the cup or glass

today. You see this is "Skip the Straw Day!"

We in the United States use ab estimated

500 million plastic straws each and every

day/ Many end up in our waterways, ricers,

lakes and the ocean and that endangers

fish life. The idea of the day is to give up

using straws today and, perhaps, well

beyond that! I've got a couple neat

plasstic straws that change color depending

if I've having a hot or cold drink. If you

get straws like that you're not likely to toss

them so, maybe, neat straws you keep are

the real answer. Hope you've got a couple

and that all your NEWS is goodQ

A CHIP OFF THE OLD......

     THURSDAY. FEBRUARY 24, 2022

          A CHIP OFF THE OLD.....

February 24th is National; Tortilla Chip

Day! Wasn't all that long ago few people

in the U.S. jad ever heard of a tortilla chip.

But that changed over the past 10 to 20 years

and these chips, coupled with sausa. have

become a very popular snack! They came

from Mexico and were introduced in the

United States by a buesinessman named

Elmer Doolin. Personally, I think they're

kind of corney! But enjoy them if you will

and may all your NEWS be good.

AN IMPORTANT DATE!

   WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2022

           AN IMPORTANT DATE!

It's not a holiday. Only another date

in our shortest month. But don't write off

February 23rd. It's got some great history!

It's the day, in 1455 when Gutenburg put

the Bible into print for the first time.

In 1792 the Massachusetts Humane

Society was formed. Not an organization to

protect animals but, rather, an organization

tp offer help to seamen in fistress. It evolved

into the United States Coast Guard! In 1836

Charles Hill came up with a was to manufacture

a new medal. Aluminum! In 1873 the game of

Lawn Tennis received a patent. 1940 saw the

release of the Walt Disney movie Pinocchio.

In 1945 on February 23rd., the U.S. Marines

raised the flag on Mount Suribachi during the

battle of Iwo Jima!  In 1954 children at a school

in Pittsburgh became the first group to receive

the Salk Polio vaccine. And let's not forget

what happened on February 23rd of 1895. That's

the day Leo Hirshfield introduced America to

the Tootsie Roll! Seems February 23rd was a

very big day, historically. You've just got to

take a look back! Hope you do from time to

time and that all your NEWS is good!

THINK ABOUT THINKING!

    TUESDAY. FEBRUARY 22, 2022

        THINK ABOUT THINKING!

   Today is "International Thinking Day!"

Think about that! The day was created by

the Girl Guides organization in 1926 as

a day when the organization would think

about their fellow women in the Girl Scout

organization and concentrate on the good

deeds done by both groups. February 22nd

was adopted as the date to observe World

Thinking Day because it was the birthday

of both Robert Baden Powell and his wife,

Lade Olave Powell, the founders of the

Girl Guides. It seems women get to do the

thinking today. We men don't have a day

like this. And you've ot to think...why?

Think about it! Hope you do and that all

your NEWS is good.

     THE HOLIDAY THAT DOSENT' EXIST!

Many years ago there lived a Baseball
team called The Washington Senators. A
popular saying was linked with the team.
"First in war, first in peace, and last in
the American League!" The first two, of
course, refer to our nation's first President!
And if you've got a day off from work
or school today it's because George
Washington is still first!
You see, officially, this is George
Washington's Birthday! It is not
"President's Day!
Back in 1968 the term "President's Day"
came up for legal consideration in the
Congress.But it was shot down.
The holiday was moved to fall between
Washington and Abe Lincoln's actual birth
dates. But the name was never changed
even though there was another attempt to
do so in the 1980's.
Technically, all those Car Dealers and
other merchants pushing President Day
Sales are promoting a holiday that doesn't
exist!
As I've mentioned before, back when
I was in school we had both Washington
and Lincoln's actual birthday's off. I still
support that. As well as a day off for
every President's birthday! I always liked
days off!
Well, whoever's name you shout out
when you're singing "Happy Birthday"
today, I hope all your NEWS is good!

HOODIE HOO DAY!

   SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2022

        HOODIE HOO DAY!

The groundhow predicted 6 more weeks of
winter but today's the day we can head that
prediction off at the pass!
     February 20th is "Northern Hemisphere
Hoodie Hoo Day!"
     The creators, at Wellcat.com, encourage
everyone to go outside at Noon today, wave
your hands over your heads, and chant
"Hoodie Hoo!"
The whole idea is to chase away any
winter blues and bring in Spring.
I'm not sure if there's any data to
measure the effect of these actions but,
perhaps, it's worth a try.
Since this truly is a little know
"holiday" you might want to pick a quiet
area away from others to participate. I'd
hate to see any body hauled away for
disorderly conduct just for trying to
do something about the weather.
Hope it works and that all your

NEWS is good!

RETURN TO SENDER?

    SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2022

          RETURN TO SENDER?

Seems there's been a lof of controversy

lately about the operations of the U.S.

Postal service! Complaints that mail is

taking too long to go through. The rates

have certainly gone up! I'm old enough to

remember the two penny post card. These days

out stamps don't even carry their monetary

denomination because it changes so often!

Still some hold that the post office has

always been the most cost effective way\

to send mail. That was certainly the case

on this date in 1914. That's the day 4-year-

old Charlotte May Pierstorff was mailed

73 miles from her parents to her grandparents!

Seems if you were under the 50 pound weight

limit that was the cheapest way to travel!

Wonder how many stamps the kid needed?

We get other people's mail from time to time

and I was beginning to get worried somebody

else's kid would show up at our mailbox!

Seems I have nothing to worry about. The

Postmaster changed the rules not long after

Charlotte got shipped and jids can no longer

be mailed! Hope your "regular mail" is coming

through OK and that all your NEWS is good!

NECTAR OF THE GODS!

     FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2022

         NECTAR OF THE GODS!

This is "National Drink Wine Day."

As if I needed an excuse! It was the

Greeks who called wine the "nectar of

the Gods."  It simply means that it tastes

ver good! But I already knew that! Wine

can be a confusing subject. There are so

many varities. There's also sweet and

'dry' wines. How can a liquid be "dry/'

I prefer the sweet wines. They're made from

grapes and other fruits and we all know fruits

are good for us. Experts tell us some wines

can help us improve our health and live longer

lives.! I'm all for that too! Jesus' first miracle

was to turn water into wine. I've already got

the wine so I won't need the water. I do,

sometimes, need a miracle...getting the

cork out of the bottle!! Here's a toast to you

on this Drink wine Day! Hope you're well

and that all your NEWS is good!

AND DO IT MY WAY!

    THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 22nd, 2022

           AND DO IT MY WAY!

Fall in everybody! February 17th is
"My Way Day!" Yep. My way or the
highway.
It's not just because I said so, it's
one of those unofficial holidays I like
to tell you  about.
      There's almost no information
about who came up with the idea. It's
thought to have been created and
shared via social media by someone
who felt it was time to make a loud
pubic cry about all the nonsense that's
forced upon us daily.
When I first read it I was convinced
it was my day and I really didn't have
any big ideas. Then I figured the
creator of the day meant it for all of
us. So, in a sense, it's "Your Way or
the highway today.
       The idea is simple.  You're
encouraged to do whatever you want,
however you want.
So go to it people. Be like Frank
Sinatra and do it your way today! Hope
it works....my wife told me I had to take
out the garbage.... and that all your NEWS is
good.

A PRESIDENTIAL VISIT!

      WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2022

             A PRESIDENTIAL VISIT!

A lot of people usually turn out to see a

President when he visits a town. But it's not

very often a President shows up to see an

individual. And yet that's exactly what

happened on this very date in 1861. Abe

Lincoln was the President. He was on a train

heading for Washington when he stopped in

the town of Westfield to visit the Bedell

family. The family member he wanted to

see was the Bedell's 11-year-old daughter

Grace. She's the little firl who wrote to suggest

he could get more votes if he grew a beard! Of

course he did and it worked! Abe just wanted

to stop by to personally thank her for the advice!

Out of the mouths of babes! Hope you're well

and that all your NEWS is good!

REMEMBERING SUSAN!!

    TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2022

         REMEMBERING SUSAN

February 15th is "Susan B. Athony Day!"

She was born on this date in 1820. She was

a strong advocate for Women's rights, especially

the right for women to be allowed to vote.

Susan spent 40 years lobbying for those rights

and, though it took a long time, most of what

she found for came to pass. Keep the image

of Susan B. Anthony in your mind...and her

silver dollar in your pocket! Hope you've got

a few and that all your NEWS is good!

VALENTINE'S DAY. DON'T LOSE YOUR HEAD!

            MONDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2022

VALENTINE'S DAY. DON'T LOST YOUR HEAD!

I'm pretty sure my Valentine's Day
will include the same card I've been
getting from my wife for many, many years!
It's a beautiful card and it never gets old.
I do sometimes wonder when she
snatches it up to hide away for next year.
Some of those "old" Valentines have
extra special meaning. I know I've got a
couple packed away in a drawer where I
stash a few cards and/or artwork done by
our grandkids.
The day brings back some interesting
memories.
I also remember those grade school
Valentine parties. We all had these tiny
Valentine cards and we'd fill one out for
every other student in the class.
You, of course, would then receive
a pile of Valentines and could check them
all out while enjoying some treats which
usually included some heart shaped
cookies and cupcakes!
        My most unusual Valentine's Day
came in 2007. We got hit with 20 inches
of snow and ice that day!
I was in our Scranton news bureau when
we heard a scanner call  about a roof collapse
at an armory near Nay Aug Park.
Nothing was moving in town at that
hour. Not even plows. I told my cameraman
to forget the company car. We jumped into
my Chevy Suburban, put it in 4 wheel low,
and drove (up hill all the way) without
ever stopping at an intersection and got our
story! I loved that Suburban! I'd send it a
card but I'm not sure in which junkyard it
resides these days. But a couple years back
I got another one!
         This year we're celebrating
Valentine's Day over a 3 day period with
a couple special get togethers with family
and friends!
          Hope you have a wonderful
Valentine's Day as well as Valentine's
memories...….and that all your NEWS is
good!

SUPER PRESIDENT'S DAY?

    SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2022

     SUPER PRESIDENT'S DAY?

It's Superbowl Sunday and a lot of

people, me included, will be having a

party. Ironically, for many, that party

will actually end before the big game

does! Kickoff is 6:30pm EST and by

the time the halftime show starts, much

of the food will be eaten and people

with kids will be thinking of heading

home. Many of those who stay will

not be going to work (or school) tomorrow!

It's estimated that over 17 million Americans

will be off the job! Nearly half will be

taking personal days. The rest will

"suddenly" come down with a cold or

some other illness. It's been suggested,

certainly by me, that Superbowl be moved

to a Saturday. But there;'s another option.

The day after the game could be made a

national holiday. And that would be easy

simply by moving President;s Day (which.

by the way is legally designated as Washington's

Birthday) to the day after Superbowl! After all

the intent of that holiday was to celebrate

Washington ( and Lincoln's) birthday and

doesn't have to fall on ther actual birth date

anyway! Makes sense to me! Maybe we should

all lobby for the change! Hope you're well,

truly well. tomorrow and that all your NEWS

is good.

PENNY WISE!

    SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2022

                  PENNY WISE!

Find a penny, pick it up, and

you'll be observing this unusual holiday!
       February 12th is "National Lost
Penny Day!" It was created by Adrienne
Sioux Koopersmith in 1995.
They may be a tie to the fact it's
Abraham Lincoln's birthday and it's
Lincoln's head that adorns the penny.
         Of course Honest Abe wasn't
always there. Ben Franklin designed
the first penny in 1787 and Lincoln
wasn't born until 1809!
It's easy to lose a penny. Since
they're the least valued of our coins
they're often tossed aside. Who wants
to have a pocket full of pennies?
Especially when you're searching you
pockets for quarters at the car wash!
But pennies do add up! A lot
of charities ask folks to donate pennies
after they've saved a jar full.
I just checked my pockets and
found 4 scattered in among the nickles,
dimes, and quarters.
One of them fell to the floor as
I was checking. But, as they say, "Find
a penny, pick it up, and all the day you'll
have good luck."  But it's already 9 pm as
I write. Does that mean I only get 3 hours
of luck or does it extend into tomorrow?
            A penny for your thoughts!
Hope I get the full 24 and that
all your NEWS is good!

A NOVEL IDEA!

    FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2022

             A NOVEL IDEA!

   This is "National Inventors Day!"

The date was selected because it's the

birthday of Thomas Edison who was

born in 1847. Edison is know mainly

for his invention of the light bulb. But

he acyually has over 1,000 patents listed

undre his name. At one time or another

we've probably all thought about

inventing something. But we're not all

Edisons! Our 6-year-old grandson wants

to invent a Time Machine. And he's got

a specific reason. He wants to go back

to 1912 and warn Captain Smith about

the iceberg before the Titanic hits it! I

asked hi why Captain Smith would

believe him. He sad "I'll take the books

with me!" Bright lad! I wish him luck

and hope all your NEWS is good.

THE "WRITE" STUFF!

   THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2022

           THE "WRITE" STUFF!

    This is "National Freelance Writer's

Appreciation Week." Most of you

remember me from television and radio

before that. But I've also done my share

of freelance writing! I've written some

pomes, a Grandparents column for a

Scranton newspaper, a media review

column (using a Penn name) and, of

course, my daily blog which has now

been around for about a dozen years

in one form or another. I've often been

told I should wriye a book/ Well, that's

exactly what I'm doing these days. For

Christmas our daughter Cassie signed

me into the "Storyworth Wed site."

Each week I receive a question about my

life which I answer in written form. I'm

allowed to pick and answer my own

questions as well. At the end of the year

my stories will all be compiled into a book

about my life. Of couse I'm hoping it has a

few more chapters! Hope it's a best seller

at least for family members) and that all

PIZZA TIME!!

  WEDNESDAT, FEBRUARY 9TH., 2022
                PIZZA TIME!

         Welcome to February 9th. "National
Pizza Day!"  tYou'd think it would be on a
Friday or Sayurday but it's always on February 9th!
Pizza is actually a favorite dish of people
around the world. Although it could be
argued that it's consumed most by people
here in the United States. The average
 American consumes over 23 pounds
of pizza each year! I'm probably half way
there in 2018 already!
If you live in Northeastern Pennsylvania
you'll likely find a pizza place every couple
blocks in most every main street shopping
area. Indeed the community of Old Forge
lays claim to being the Pizza Capitol of the
world! Several establishments there even
send their "half baked" pizzas around the
country where customers finish the
baking process and enjoy their meal.
       My brother-in-law once packed one
in a suitcase he bought at Goodwill and
checked it in his baggage for his flight
back to California. He ate it that same
evening!
While most everyone likes pizza the
debate that frequently develops when it's
ordered involves the toppings that are to
be added.
I'm a pepperoni guy which puts me
in the most popular group. 36% of people
favor pepperoni. My wife is in the
"mushroom group."
In a sense the Pizza season, just
peaked. More pizzas are sold on Super
Bowl Sunday than on any other day of the
year. But as much as we eat here in the U.S.,
Norway leads the world in pizza consumption
on a per capita basis! I'm not sure what
topping the prefer.
It's pretty clear how to celebrate this
unofficial holiday. Have a pizza...with or
without pepperoni. Hope you enjoy the
day and your pizza and that all your NEWS
is good!

THE BIG WAVE!

    TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2022

               THE BIG WAVE!

Before you get the wrong idea today's

blog has nothing to do with the ocean!

February 8th is one of those usual

"holidays" I like to tell you about. It's

"Wave your fingers at your neighbor Day."

The idea is to exchange greetings with

your neighbors. Get to know them! You

may even  get to be friends/ There was a

time when everybody knew all of his or

her neighbors. That's not always true

these days and that's kind of a shame.

This is the perfect day to get acquainted

if you're not already. So put your hand

up and wave. And, make sure you use all

your fingers! Hope it works out and that

all your NEWS is good

A DAY TO GET CARDED!

  MONDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2022

      A DAY TO GET CARDED!

For those of you with good memories
you'll undoubtedly recall when your daily
mail delivery included letters or cards from
friends or distant family.
These days, with the exception of
Christmas, your mail box is pretty much
filled with bills and advertisements.
Those personal notes now come via
text or emails.
Well today's the day to bring back the
good old days. February 7th is "Send A Card
To A Friend Day."
I'd have to admit it's nice to get a
card or letter from someone. I have one
very good friend who still writes personal
cards or letters and I look forward to them.
In cursive at that! And he fills every available
space on the card!
I don't write as often as I should. My
excuse is my handwriting. It's so bad I can't
usually read what I wrote 20  minutes after
writing.it. Still, I do make the effort from
time to time and I've been told those notes
are appreciated.
So grin and bear it! Grab a ":Friendship
card" or something like that and reach out to
somebody today. You're going to make their
day!
It's good practice for your handwriting
too. Hope you remember your cursive and
that all your NEWS is good.

A TIP OF THE CAP TO BILL PAINTER!

     SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 6. 2022

A TIP OF THE CAP TO BILL PAINTER!

When we think about inventors names

like Bell and Edison immediately come to

mind. But what about Bill Painter? Dr.William

Painter is credited with 85 inventions! One of

them was patened on this very day in 1894.

And that was the bottle cap opener! Of course

prior to that he actually invented the bottle cap!

Some of Painter's inventions are still used nearly

every day. There was a machine for crowning

bottles. He came up with a machine to detect

counterfeit money. He invented another machine

that folds paper. Of course he did come up with

one that, to my knowledge, was never used.

Thankfully! It was an ejection seat for railroad

passenger cars! Well, you can't win them all!

Hope you're well and that all your NEWS is

good!

100% CHANCE OF A HOLIDAY!

       SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2022

       100% CHANCE OF A HOLIDAY!

  It's February 5th and I'd say there's a
90% chance most of you don't know what
unofficial holiday is on the calendar!
Even if you do I'd guess, based on
recent developments, there's a 95%
chance you might not join in the
celebration!
  This is "National Weatherman's Day!"
It's got nothing to do with that radical
1970's underground group that wanted
to overthrow the government.
In this case we're referring to those
weathermen, and women, who predict
our daily weather, often overthrowing
everybody's schedule........including
government!
It may surprise you to know that
most of our local forecasters have a
very high accuracy percentage when
it comes to their predictions.
Problem is, getting it wrong once
is a little like saying you didn't think
the gun was loaded!
If the storm they call for doesn't
come you've closed schools, halted
transportation, and lost work.....all
for noting.
If they don't call for the storm and
you get clobbered everybody wants to
lynch them after being caught,
unprepared, in the mess!
So have a little sympathy today for
the folks that go out on a limb, or the
backyard, or the roof, throughout the year
to tell us what our day may be like.
   Remember......this is their day.....and
there's 100% chance we'll have weather..
of some sort!
Hope it doesn't include a storm
with some stupid name....and that
all your NEWS is good!

NO NEED TO BURST YOUR BUBBLE!

         FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2022

NO NEED TO BURST YOUR BUBBLE!

Where was this "holiday: when I was

in school? For most of my growing up
years (there is a strong argument made by
some that that process has not yet ended)
blowing bubbles with bubble gum was at
least discouraged and often punished!
Especially in school!
But Bubble Gum Day invites many
chewers to do their thing right in the
classroom!
On this day, kids bring 50 cents to
school, and donate it to a good cause. In
exchange, they can chew bubble gum in school
on this day.
         According to holidayinsights.com
Ruth Spiro, a writer, a children’s book author,
and a bubble gum fan created this day in 2006.
Her objective was to create a day where schools
can do a fundraiser, without selling things.
The web site also reports libraries, clubs,
and social groups have adopted this unique
fund raiser.
I had a lot of experience with Bubble
Gum over the years. Most of mine can in
packages from Topps made right here in
northeastern Pennsylvania. The gum was
my way of searching for the perfect
Baseball Cards. You had to buy the gum
if you wanted the cards!
But, as previously noted, we card
collectors did our chewing "on the side"
and just hoped we remembered to ditch the
gum before we walked into a class!
So chew away today my friends and
pop the biggest bubble you can muster
IF your school, library, or club is
celebrating the day.
If not.....good luck! Hope all your
NEWS is good!

SWEATER WEATHER!

    THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2022

           SWEATER WEATHER!

January was a very cold month and

February isn't shaping up much better.

But today is "Sweater Day." Sweaters

are great to help us through the cold

months and they're also a big help to

the environment. When you wear a

sweater you can turn your thernostate

down a couple degrees and save a bit

on your heating bills. I like sweaters.

I own several. My favorite it one we

bought on a trip to Scotland a few years

ago. They look pretty sharp too. Although

some people seem to wear them better tham

others! Hope your seater is on and that all

your NEWS is good!

THE LAST DAY OF CHRISTMAS!

    WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2022

     THE LAST DAY OF CHRISTMAS!

Today's blog is primarily dedicated to
those of you who still have any sort of
Christmas decoration still adorning your
home. Good for you!
February 2nd is Candlemas Day, the last
holiday of the Christmas season!
Candlemas is the festival, of the Feast
of Purification of the Virgin Mary. It also
celebrates the annual blessing of candles
used by the church.
      I'm always encouraging people to
celebrate Christmas as long as they
possibly can. I never knew there was an
"official reason" to do it.
So break out the eggnog and the
Fruit cake for one last toast to Christmas!
The Fruit cake should still be as good as
the day you got it. You might want to
check the eggnog though!
And don't pack everything too deep
in the attic or basement. After all there's
only 11 months left till Christmas!
Hope I can get all my shopping done
this time and that all your NEWS is good!
