ANCHORS AWWIGHT!
It's Maya 17th everybody which begins
"National Safe Boating Week!" I have a
boat. It actually the last of the "fleet" I once
owned having three different vessles at one
time. The last survivor is my 8 foot Jon Boat!
I call it "Jon Buoy!" I learned all about
boating safety abaord these crafts, unfortunately,
by experience. I had a pontoon boat we kept
at Lake Wallenpauck. I remember taking
several people from our church for a cruise
only to discover one of the pontoons was
taking on water! We were gradually sinking!
Fortunately I was aable to get back to the
dock before anybody got their feet wet!
Then there was the time my late cameraman,
Bob Dennis, and I decided to take my canoe
on a voyage down the Susquehanna River.
Did I mention is was a "one man canoe?"
We promptly sunk! After readjusting the
gear we were taking along we wwere able
to complete the journey WITH our life
jackets on at all time!!! So, boating
safety is very important. But before
you get too involved with it Boating
Safety Week may I suggest you observe
the day we're celebrating today! May
17th is "Learn To Swim Day!" Hope
your're swimming and/or boating
safely and that all your NEWS is
good!
