            THE WEATHER FOLKS!

     Well the Groundhog had his day Saturday.
 The rest of the forecasters get today! February
 5th is "National Weatherman's
 (or Weatherperson's) Day! It's a day set aside
 to honor the men and women who work hard
 to try to tell us what the weather will be in the
 day or days ahead.
       I worked with some very good Weathermen
 over the years. And till this day I run into people
 who seem sure I was one of those forecasters.
      Their confusion is understandable!
      When the weather gets especially bad it is
 usually the reporter, not the meteorologist, who
 gets sent out in whatever Mother Nature is
 throwing at us! And don't forget the photographer!
 He gets thrown out in the mess too!
         The day seems an appropriate time to
 remind you about the difference between a
 weather forecast an a weather report.
           If you want a forecast check the guys and
 girls in the TV Weather Departments who will
 try to tell you what may happen.
           If you want a weather report, especially a
 good local report, look out your window!
            Anyway hats off to all the weather folks
 (unless it's too cold, then keep the hats on).
