LET NO LEIF UNTURNED!
In just a few days we'll be noting
Columbus Day. A date set aside to
honor Christopher Columbus who,
as we were taught for years, 'Discovered
America," Today, October 9th, we
observe Leif Erikson Day." He and his
crew are said to have set foot in North
America some 490 years before old
Chris set sail. They supposedly stayed
for awhile even building some structures.
Problem is he didn't make any maps or
write about his discovery. So, he lost
out on credit! His brother even came
on a later visit. He was killed by Indians
who were here before both Columbus and
Eirkson! Just to be fair they've added
"Native American Day" (shared with
Columbus Day) on October 12th.
Whichever you're celebrating, hope
you're well and that all your NEWS
is good!
