"NATIVE AMERICAN SUMMER?"

   WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28th, 2020

     "NATIVE AMERICAN SUMMER?"

Well many of the leaves around this area

are down and the ones that remain have taken

on that "rusty color." I'm looking forward to

Indian Summer. That's a period of mild weather,

usually in October or November, that follows

the first hard frost. It's a pleasant time though

the name doesn't stem from pleasantries! Back

when the settlers and Native Americans started

to feud the term "Indian" took on a negative

connotation. "Indian Giver" was used to refer

to someone who gave you something then

wanted it back! "Indian Summer" meant a

time that felt like summer but really wasn't.

Well, whatever its origin, I hope Indian Summer

comes soon and stays awhile! Hope your weather

is fine, that you're well, and that all your NEWS

is good!
