Are The Fireworks Over??????

Did you hear that?  As the 5th of July
dawns there's a silence in the air! A very welcome
silence!
Independence Day has proved to be a
Holiday that outlives it's actual date!
The Fireworks sales tents begin to show up
around the beginning of June.
They seem to growth faster then weeds!
There was one in the parking lot of the
Walmart in Pittston Township. There was another
in the lot of the small strip mall just off the
entrance to Walmart and a third right across Rt.
315 from the Walmart complex. And, yes, there
was a "fireworks" selection inside Walmart too.
We're told these canvas emporiums confine
their sales to pyrotechnics that conform to State
law. So.....what is the State law regarding
fireworks? Well, in short, the law allows
Pennsylvanians to buy only sparklers, sparkle
fountains and smoke bombs, but nothing that
explodes or propels itself or a projectile into the
air.
So, if that's the case, how is it possible I've
been seeing "the rocket's red glare" and hearing
"the bombs bursting in air" all around my
neighborhood over the past four days or so!
Heck, the battle at Fort Sumper only
lasted 3 days!
I expect to see and hear them on the 4th
of July and from venues like Kirby Park and
Mohegan Sun.  The blasts that shook the house
throughout the 3rd were a bit more of a surprise!
I don't think those charges came from the
tents!
We escaped the holiday itself (Fireworks
Ground Zero) by hiding out at our lakeside
camper where the thundering sounds we heard
were actually caused...... by thunder!
As we heard it we noted that ......"our flag
was still there!" And that, of course, is what
Independence Day is really all about!
     Happy 5th of July!
Hope your neighbors have used up all their
Cherry bombs and M-80s, and that all your
NEWS is good!
