South Of The Border

     Start spreading the news. They're
leaving today. They'll make a brand
new start of it .........in old PA!
     Well, they're not actually leaving
today. But they're talking about it!
      People in several communities
in what's know as New York's
"Southern Tier" are discussing the
possibility of having their towns
secede from the Empire State and
become part of Pennsylvania.
      According to published reports
these folks are upset with their
Governor's decision to ban Fracking.
They look across the border and
see that industry bringing jobs to
neighboring communities here in the
Keystone State.
I'm not sure if they noticed all
those Texas license plates though.
I don't know if secession will
get anybody in New York off the
unemployment list. But it raises some
interesting questions.
       Would we get Binghamton?
And if we did would everyone
around here be required to
pronounce it properly?
Or, would they have to learn to
say "picnic" with an Eynon accent?
Or learn how to order a "Haw-dog."
I'm sure we'd be willing to
share our pot holes with them.
And our new gasoline tax. Or fee.
Whatever you call it.
We've already got our own Statue
of Liberty. I see one on almost
every corner. And ours wave at
you!
But, if they want to come, why
not?  If they can make it here they'll
make it anywhere.
       Hope they bring Niagara Falls
with them and that all your NEWS
is good!
