My Singing Partners!

OK. So I don't really sing. At least not very
well.
But it was that exact lack of skill and singing
quality that helped me play a "Jerry Lewis-like-
character back in 1963 when the manager of the
radio station where I worked, and I, did a two-man
morning comedy show!
That's what took the two of us back stage at the
Bloomsburg Fair that year!
The boss had arranged for us to interview the
Lennon sisters who used to star on the Lawrence
Welk TV show.
Janet, the youngest of the preforming sisters, at
that time, didn't make it as she was ill.
But Kathy and Peggy along with the late Bob
Lido played along with us. I even joined them in a
line or two of "Apple Blossom Time."
That was one of the reasons I was so happy to be
an escort for our tour to Branson. The Lennons are
playing at the Andy Williams Theater there along
with the Osmond brothers.
Their show was great. And the opportunity of
seeing them afterwards was enough to suggest our
fellow tour members wait on the bus for 15 minutes
while we tried to get my wife's vintage Lennon
Paper Dolls autographed.
We were successful and the Lennons even told
us to say hello to our fellow travelers. We couldn't
do that right away as they had left on our bus right
before we came out!
We called a cab but were told we could expect
at least a 45 minute wait......and there were at least
two calls to answer before they could even start for
us.
About a half hour into our wait a lovely lady who
works for the Lennons came out and saw us standing
there. She happens to live near our Hotel and offered
us a ride "home" in her pick up truck. We cancelled
the cab and jumped on board.
Maybe she realized I was once a "singing partner"
with the girls? More likely, I suppose, she just felt
sorry for two Northern folks left out in the cold!
Hope you've got a warm heart like the Lennons
and their employee, and that all you NEWS is good!
