I Saw The Light(s)!

Well by now I guess a lot of you
have set up your Christmas lights.
And you've probably come across a
couple that don't light up any more.
A guy I know had that problem.
Except 10,000 of his bulbs didn't
work!
Bill Courtright is the mayor of
Scranton. When the city set up its
annual Christmas lighting display
in Nay Aug Park workers discovered
the 10,000 burned out bulbs.
     Fortunately they aren't those old
lights where one bad bulb kills the
whole string! I can just imagine the
Parks Department replacing bulbs
one at a time until they all lighted.
It would take till next Christmas!
     Lackawanna County bought the
holiday lights about 20 years ago
and set them up inside the old
Multi Purpose Baseball Stadium.
They might have been a big hit
there. But they struck out...probably
because of a rather steep admission
price.
The city bought the lights and
set them up in Nay Aug Park where
people can drive through and enjoy
them free of charge. Visitors are
asked for donations and they've
come through...big time! That
should help keep new bulbs coming!
They are about 100 displays in
the park. About the same number,
although admittedly bigger, that my
wife will be digging out shortly.
She, of course, has no Parks
Department. So, I suppose, I'll be
checking those blubs before too
long!
Hope you're all, rather than half,
lit....and that all your NEWS is good!
