Multiperplexing!

 THURSDAY, JANUARY 7TH.

      MULTIPERPLEXING!

  My son-in-law and I were both
interested in seeing the new Star
Wars Movie. I, however, had no
interest in fighting the long lines of
people that waited, some overnight,
to catch the very first showings of
this Blockbuster movie.
    Multiplex theaters were showing
it on several screens and news
reports showed long lines at all of
them. And you faced choices that
could be perplexing.
     Some of the screenings were in
"Extreme 3-D." Others were in
"regular" 3D. The extra admission price
charged to make you feel like you
were actually in that galaxy far
away weren't enough to lure me
into a packed theater. Nor was the
much less expensive five dollar
Tuesday movie special.
     Bargain day, we figured, would
still find a crowded theater with
fewer good seat choices.
     That's why we decided to wait
till yesterday to see the movie. And
it looked like our patience really
paid off! We walked into a totally
empty theater just 5minutes before
the start of the show and had our
choice of seats anywhere in the
auditorium! Our popcorn bucket
and soda cups were filled and there
were no people sitting around
chatting or checking out their cell
phones to disturb our comfort!
    In fact, after just 5 minutes, we
noticed we weren't even being
barraged with the usual run of
coming attractions or ads to visit
the concession stand.
    That's probably about the same
time we realized we were in the
wrong theater! Oh Star Wars was
scheduled to show there......but
not for another hour an a half!
     So we picked up our popcorn,
our soda, and our coats and
moved to another auditorium not
so far, far away where we arrived
in time to catch some coming
attractions and the feature with
some other folks with whom we
shared the adventure!
