Good Night Larry Talbot!

"Even a man who is pure in heart
and says his prayers by night........
can become a wolf when the wolf bane
blooms and the autumn moon is bright."
Well it isn't autumn, But the so-
called "Super Moon" that appeared in
the sky last night was bound to
awaken Werewolves everywhere!
     Probably regular "wolves" too!
The verse that leads this essay
comes from the 1941 movie "The Wolf
Man" but it was used again in a recent
remake of the old horror story.
   The Wolf Man's "civilian identity"
was Larry Talbot.
It was on my mind last night as
some of us sat around our first
campfire of the season and tried to come
up with scary stories.
More often than not they ended in
roaring laughter rather than chills and
shivers!
I thought about a lot of the old
monster movies we used to see as kids.
They didn't show a lot of
violence and gore back then. The "fright"
was implied and that was good enough
for us even in black and white
          Our "campfire stories" were even
tamer. It was funny though....the story
teller would get to an especially
scary line and the fire might pop or
some other noise from another camp site
would make us jump for a second.....
then laugh when we realized it wasn't
part of the "script."
That got me to thinking that
fairy tales and scary stories could go
together very well.
I've got an idea for one that
could be great..."The Wolf Man
Meets The Lone Ranger!"
            Think about it! They fit!
            Hope you've got a family
fire ring and that all your NEWS is
good!
