Trailing On The Trail!

After our get together at the Lehigh Gorge Trail
yesterday I have concluded that the family that hikes
together.....is very rare indeed!
15 of us gathered at the head of the trail in White
Haven set to embark on a mile or two walk along the
beautiful Lehigh River under the colorful autumn leaves.
First, of course, the obligatory group photo.
Rounding up the participants requires the photographer
to emulate either a Marine Drill Instructor or a Sheep dog
attempting to gather its herd.
Once the actual march begins you quickly learn that,
unlike a drill team, everyone walks with a different stride.
Within a half mile I realized that, had this been Custer's
troop at the Little Big Horn, most would never had come
in time for the battle!
Since I walk most every day at a fairly quick pace I
found myself wondering what happened to the 14 other
people? But not to worry....they were all coming along
slowly but surely, enjoying the beauty of the trail and the
companionship of anyone else strolling at a similar speed.
Separated as we were during the hike, we all came
together afterwards as the food was served at our host's
home. Seems the family that eats together is very close
indeed! No one wants to be last in line when the sausage
is running out! And, here again, I attempted to lead the
way!
Hope your family is close and that all your NEWS is
 good!
