Auto-matics!

My friend just bought a new car.
That is not news! My friend has
trouble passing a new car dealership
without stopping to buy one.
   OK. Maybe that's an exaggeration.
But he has bought two new cars
and traded in one less than two
years old, within the past month!
    What's really amazing is the
new technology that comes with all
those new vehicles! Most of these
new cars seem to be loaded with new
neat gimmicks and impressive
designs!
     My buddy's newest car, for
instance, has a back up camera. And
a front view camera. And a side view
camera on each of his rear view
mirrors!
      The driver's and front passenger
seats adjust when you turn off the
engine to make t easier to get in or
out of the car.
The head rests on the front seats
have TV screens built into their
back sides so passengers can watch
the latest DVD while you're driving.
There's a big screen in the center
of the dashboard too. But that's not
for watching DVD's. That one displays
a GPS along with some other features.
There are two "Moon" or "Sun"
roofs on his car. I guess you decide
which you're opening depending on
whether you're driving in the daytime
or night time or whether you're looking
up at the sun or the moon!
I don't have all these neat things on
my old cars. I have to look out my
windshield, or side, or back windows
to see what's out there in any direction.
     I don't have a "Sun" or a "Moon"
roof although one of my old vehicles
does have a roof that allows you to
see either. That car is called a
convertible!
I do have a portable DVD player
I can plug into the cigarette lighter if
my back seat passengers want to watch
something. Usually I encourage them
to look out the windows so they can
see where we are and all the neat things
we're passing while we're getting where
we're going.
I have to mount my GPS on the
windshield or dash but it still gives me
directions. Sometimes they're actually
right.
I have to get into and out of my seat
all by myself. But back in 1959 my Dad
had a Plymouth Fury with "Swivel seats"
that would actually swing out on an
angle to help you get in or out of the
car. I do, sometimes, miss those.
I like all of those neat new things on
those new cars. But they come with
something else I don't have.
     It's called a car payment!
Hope you enjoy the ride and....that all
your NEWS is good!
