Eat Your Heart Out Willy Wonka!

No Golden Ticket needed here! It was,
I believe, one or two of the grand kids who
invited us to  "Candy Making Party" at my
daughter's house the other day.
My wife gathered a number of molds to
bring along and the dining room was
promptly converted into a small confectionery
factory.
There was melted chocolate, white and dark,
and assorted flavors like eggnog, mint, and
ginger bread to be molded into shapes such
as Christmas trees and snowmen.
There was pop corn, pretzels, and potato
chips to be dipped.
And, of course, the workers were all set
to get the production line rolling!
The only thing that surprised us was the
oompa loompas! The grand kids didn't seem
to be quite as committed as those little people
in the movie!
The kids tore into the project like
Willy Wonka himself.....for about 15 minutes!
But after dipping a few pretzels and filling
a few molds the monotony of the assembly
line must have become too tedious as they
dropped off, one by one, to more
adventurous activities like IPod games and
such.
     Management, my wife and daughter,
stayed with it until tray after tray of
attractive and delicious candy were ready
to be wrapped for an upcoming visit with
relatives.
First, of course, they had to be
sampled. That's where I came in. "Quality
Control!" Everything passed!
Hope you've enjoyed a few sweet treats
over the holidays and that all your NEWS
is good.
