Is It Warm Enough For You?

It's one of those things that, on its face,
doesn't seem to make sense!
The streets, especially the side streets,
are still covered with all that white stuff
Hercules dumped on us.
There's a pretty good chance the
mercury in that old thermometer of yours
has crawled all the way to the bottom as
we see temperatures that make freezing
seem warm! It's cold out there!
And yet....this is "The Earth at perihelion
day!"
For those that don't know what that means
(like I didn't) this is the day the earth is
closest to the sun! Shouldn't we be warmer?
It's that point in the year when the Sun
appears largest in the sky, and when the Earth
receives the most radiation from it.
But, unfortunately, it doesn't have much of
an effect on our warmth!
It just doesn't seem fair. We're close to the
sun but solar warming doesn't work and where
the heck is Global warming when we need it?
Guess we'll just have to stay inside by the
fireplace, or heater, or radiator, or whatever
you've got!
Hope you're snug as a bug in a rug and
that all your NEWS is good!
