A Little Extra Seasoning!

To me it's one of the saddest sights of
the season.
After weeks as the centerpiece of most
area homes, the now undecorated lifeless
body of Christmas trees are beginning to
appear along the curbs of communities
throughout the area.
I spotted the first "corpse" yesterday
in the gutter on a street in Kingston.
There was a time when those trees
continued to sparkle even after being
discarded. That, however, was at a time
when Tinsel was a common Christmas
tree decoration.
Once on it never seemed to want to
come off!
I asked my 4-year-old grand daughter
if she intended to use Tinsel on her
Christmas tree this season. The confused
look on her face provided clear evidence
she had never heard of the stuff before.
I suppose it's just as well. Shiny as
those strands were they could play havoc
when they fell and shorted out the power
than ran my Lionel trains!
But back to those Christmas trees. It's
sad to see them tossed aside because it's
a sign that the season itself is ending.
And it doesn't have to! Not yet anyway.
Hard liners like myself will keep our
trees up and glowing at least until
"Russian" or " Orthodox Christmas"
on January 7th. And since ours is artificial it
will be wrapped and packed until December
rolls around this year. No curb side grave
for our Tennenbaum!
Hope you're stretch the season as much
as possible and that all your NEWS is
good!
