          5 WILL GET YOU 10!

    Our Sunday evening visit to Montreal
included a visit to the "Casino de Montreal."
    From a distance it looks like a huge
cruise ship that was built on land! It's many
floors  are filled with slot machines and
gaming tables. There's a show place as well
and a small stage featuring live performers
who offer entertainment while you're watching
those slot machine figures spin round and
round.
      There are several restaurants including a
very large and well stocked buffet so there's
no need to leave the place to get anything.
       As visitors from Travelworld each of us
received a $10 voucher upon arrival to get
us started. You couldn't cash in the voucher
unless you actually used the funds to play and
happen to win. I did! Win that is. And here's
the thing. The exchange rate means that
U.S. dollars are worth more than their
Canadian counterpart!
        The $40 I won through careful pushing
of that 5 cent slot machine button is worth
more that forty American dollars.
          But try to get it!
          The Casino will not exchange Canadian
currency for American money. A couple members
of our tour group find themselves in the same
boat. There are some exchange businesses in
the general area of our hotel. But will they be
open before our bus leave for home? That's
especially unlikely today (Monday) because
it's a Holiday here. Not Columbus Day! It's
Canadian Thanksgiving.And I may be the
"Turkey!"
           Everyone in Canada is happy to accept
American money but it doesn't work the same
way back in the States!
            Maybe we can ask the President to
negotiate a reciprocal monetary exchange deal
with our neighbors up North?
            On second thought it will probably be
a lot easier if I just go to a bank! I don't want
to end up with a wall along that border!
             Hope the rate goes up before I
get my money and that all your NEWS is
