  LET'S GIVE A ROUSING CHEER!

     I always liked cheerleaders. I think
most of us do. On Saturday there were
cheerleaders all over the place!!!!
     They turned out in Exeter for a
big competition. And it was worth
watching!
     Usually the weekly football games
have everybody watching the players, from
Midget Football to the Pros, as they battle
their opponents to gain ten yards at a time
and, hopefully, a touchdown or two.
     The cheerleaders are there too, in
the same hot or cold weather, trying to
get spectators to follow their routines
as they support their respective teams.
You might remember a cheer or two but
have you every really noticed the physical
effort and precision these kids offer as
they stand along the sidelines?
      One Saturday the cheerleaders were
the only focus of attention. There were plenty
of teams on the field but no football players.
       Saturday was a day devoted to the
cheerleaders as they competed before a
panel of judges ruling on the quality of
their cheers and even their dance steps
when those cheers were performed to
music.
        They came in all ages and sizes
representing separate squads that show
up to cheer on football teams in various
age brackets as well.
        One had to be impressed with the
quality of the efforts show to those
judges.
          Prizes were awarded for the best
efforts but, in reality, all of these young
cheerleaders are winners. Next time you're
at a game give them a round of applause!
They truly deserve it!
