   READ THIS ONE OVER...EASY!

Welcome to October 12th! Many know
the date as the actual Columbus Day. But
it also happens to be "World Egg Day!"
I'm not trying to scramble your mind!
The second Friday in October was officially
designated as World Egg Day in 1996 at a
conference in Vienna.
     The organization conducting the
conference was the IEC. That's the
International Egg Commission.
      Somehow I've lived three quarters
of a century without ever knowing there
is an International Egg Commission! I
should probably be fried for that!
Anyway the day was established to
celebrate the egg and its value to nutrition
around the world!
A number of countries have special
events planned for the day and, in some cases,
an entire week of celebration. In Canada, for
instance, farmers will be in markets throughout
the country answering questions about egg
production. India is distributing 3 million
boiled eggs to school children for World
Egg Day!
Don't stay in your shell! Join in the
observance by enjoying or even sharing some
eggs today!
Hope you'll keep your sunny side up an
that all your NEWS is good.
