LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE KIDS!

LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE KIDS!

The first Friday in October, in this case
today, October 5th, is "Kid's Music Day."
My 3-year-old grandson got a head
start on the celebration by comin g up with
a song of his own as we headed towards
the playground Thursday. I couldn't
actually say I caught all the words but it's
title seemed to be "Locomotive" and it had
a beat.
As the author of the famous DeCosmo
traveling song "We Are The Picnic People"
I believe he is following in my footsteps!
Isn't it strange, when we're asked to think
about popular songs, we tend to select
something by a popular artist, usually from
our teenage years.
     Since various generations were all
teenagers at different times those songs can
vary a lot! Big Band music for those born in
the 30's or 40's. Rock, Elvis style, for those
growing up in the 50's  and early 60's and,
on and on from there.
And yet, chance are, we all probably
have a clear memory of the melody and
words to such everlasting hits like "Rain,
Rain, Go Away" or "I've Been Working On
The Railroad." There's a lot to be said for
the endurance of Kid's Music! It is, in a
sense, a great unifier!
This may be a good time to start
singing more of these truly golden
oldies!
Hope you remember a few and that
all your NEWS is good!
