It's A Beautiful Day In Pennsylvania!

      TUESDAY, MAY 5TH

It's A Beautiful Day In Pennsylvania

  The late Harrisburg radio personality
Pete Wambach delighted listeners on
more than 100 stations from 1968 to
1985 with his 5 minute feature on
little know facts about people, places,
and things in the Keystone State!
His famous line was, "It's a
beautiful day in Pennsylvania."
   Yesterday we proved him right.
   With temperatures somewhere
between 85 and 90 the top came
down in the Miata and we went
for a "little ride."
Some three hours later we found
ourselves at the Grand Canyon. The
one in Pennsylvania that is.
But we didn't have to go that far
to  find some of that beauty Wamback
always talked about.
    The overlooks along Route 6
between Tunkhannock and Towanda
offer a sensational view of the
Susquehanna river far below as well
as the surrounding countryside.
A flock of hawks circled above
and below us, floating on the updrafts
from the valley below.
Miles later a small sign guided us
to a dirt road just off Route 6 where
a Covered Bridge waited to be
rediscovered.
The Wellsboro Diner, a classic in
it's own right, proved the right stop
for a light lunch. It's one of those
old style diners that's been there
since 1939.
Then we were off to see the
Canyon again. You can't see
enough of it!
      Sometimes we truly don't see
the forest for the trees!
      Wambach was right!
Hope you take some time to
prove it to yourself and that all
your NEWS is good!
