YOU CAN'T THERE FROM HERE!

YOU CAN'T GET THERE FROM HERE!

It took about 9 hours to fly from Italy
to New Jersey two weeks ago. So, where
did I go wrong?
One of our fellow passengers asked
me to send her a couple of photos. She
lives in Binghamton, New York. I know
the town. I've driven there often to have
dinner with friends. It takes about 90
minutes from my place.
Anyway in response to my fellow
traveler's request I packed the two
photos in a Priority Mail envelope
provided by the United States Postal
Service, paid the $7.13 shipping rate,
and received a tracking number so I
could literally follow my package
along its route.
I didn't really think it would be
necessary to track my mail. After
all, Binghamton is pretty much
straight up Interstate 81 from
Pittston. That's where I mailed the
envelope.
Just for fun though I typed my
tracking code into my laptop on
Thursday and was a bit surprised
that the Post Office folks didn't
use the Interstate route. Here is
what I saw when I checked again
on Friday morning:

Now maybe it's just me. But I'm
thinking it's easier to get to Binghamton
without stopping in Grand Rapids, Michigan!
The Pony Express used to carry mail
from the Atlantic to the Pacific in ten days.
Given that record four days from Pittston
to Binghamton seems a little unreasonable
to me!
Next time I'll just drive it there myself
and, maybe, stop for lunch! Hope nobody
tracks me...and that all your NEWS is
good!
