BIBBIDI-BOBBIDI-BOO!
About eight years ago the Fairy
God Mothers at the Junior League
in Scranton developed a program
designed to make sure no young
ladies would be forced to stay away
from the Ball (or Prom) because they
couldn't afford a fancy dress.
It's called Cinderella's Closet.
People donate new or in many cases
once worn gowns which are made
available to others for just ten dollars!
On Friday evening my grand daughter
Kara joined other volunteers from area
schools to model some of the hundreds
of dresses that will be available this
year! She and the others walked the
Red Carpet at the Marketplace at
Steamtown much to the delight of
her family and all the other people
who turned out for the wonderful
show.
The Mall donated the space while
an area DJ and Hair Salon donated their
talents to make it a great event.
It's so good to see so many people
teamed up to make life a little easier
for area families, and their daughters,
who can't just shell out hundreds of
dollars to make their prom dreams
come true.
Hope a lot of people take advantage
of this great program and that all of
their, and your, NEWS is good!
